BLANTYRE (Sergio Genti, Malawi NewsNow) – A man who lives flamboyantly above the law since being involved in the murder case of Robert Chasowa, a former fourth-year engineering student at the Polytechnic, and belongs to the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) youth cadets, Isaac Jomo Osman has courted another controversy for after a video clip went viral on social media which showed him assaulting a vendor for wearing opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) regalia.
On Tuesday morning, the social media was awash with video clip showing Osman assaulting the harmless vendor in commercial capital Blantyre.
In the video, Osman is seen assaulting the vendor and threatening him while covering his head with the MCP party cloth.
“This man is a criminal and must be arrested. Malawi chose multiparty democracy in 1993. Anyone who prevents a fellow Malawian from supporting the party of their choice is a criminal and must face the law,” social commentator Stanley Onjezani Kenani posted on Facebook.
Many people have asked to arrest Osma, saying his behavior is a threat to democracy.
Osman a former Big Bullets Football Club supporters chairpersons was once banned from football because of his violence behaviour.
He is reported to be used by DPP in attacking opponents and also the killing of Chasowa.
Chasowa was found dead near the dispensary and finance blocks office at the Polytechnic campus on September 24 2011 under questionable circumstances.
