Ethiopians illegally in Malawi

KARONGA (Malawi NewNow)- Police in Karonga, the northern border district of Malawi, have on Sundayarrested 81 Ethiopians for entering the country without travelling documents.Confirming the development, Kaporo Police Post officer in charge Superintendent Dickson Chirwa said the arrest follows a tip from well wishers.

He said the group was found hiding inside the Chisi forest which is in the northern part of the district, in the area of traditional authority Kilipula.

“We were told by some well wishers that a group of foreigners have crossed Songwe River going to Chisi forest. And after tracing we found them at the middle of the forest  resting,” said Chirwa.

However, the Kaporo Police Post officer in charge said they failed to arrest Malawians who aided the group because they were not present on the scene.

Chirwa then vowed to hunt down the aiders till they face the law.
