Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump gestures at a rally

LILONGWE (Muchanakhwaye Khwepeya, Malawi NewsNow ) – Malawian President Peter Mutharika is said to have endorsed  Republican candidate Donald Trump for the presidency  of the United State of America as opposed to Democrats  candidate Hilary Clinton because she is close ally of his political foe and predecessor Joyce Banda.

Mutharika, who recently had a meeting with president Bill Clinton in United States, believes if Hilary takes the presidency, Banda will have an advantage of reaching out to the powerful leader of the globe.

“President Mutharika would prefer Trump win the elections,” leader of government in parliament Dr George Chaponda, who is also vice president of ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) said when asked to comment on US  elections.

He says Mutharika  does not want to see a Hillary Clinton presidency.

The Malawi leader is ensorsing Trump for the White House, claiming the controversial Republican will be more friendly to him than Clinton.

Mutharika has United States ‘Green Card’ and Banda also stays much of her time in America.

But Banda is endorsing Clinton for presidency.
