LILONGWE (Muchanakhwaye Khwepeya, Malawi NewsNow ) – Malawian of Asian origin Mezabun Mussa (nee Rafik Mussa) is seeking the help of Minister of Gender, Women and Children welfare, Dr Jean Kalirani to intervene on her domestic abuse after the husband threatened her.
Family sources said Mezu has been threatened by her husband to be thrown out of the house for a gift of a VW Car she received from her father.
Mezu is married to Anuwar Sakur Abdulla.
Her husband has given her three days to return the expensive gift to the father and live the life normal or else be banished from the Abdulla family.
However, she has resorted to seek political involvement by reaching out to Minister of Gender to help her tackle the domestic abuse.
“I need to enjoy my marriage peacefully and that should not stop me from having a car from my father. I need help otherwise they can hurt me. I need both the marriage and the car,” Mezu said.
She lives in posh Area 2 in the city of Lilongwe.
Mezu claims she is being threatened since she posted a new born baby welcome on Facebook without the Abdulla family knowledge.
“I don’t see anything wrong with welcoming a new born baby,” she said.
She complains of emotional abuse, a pattern of threatening behaviour and economic control from the Abdulla family.
Mezu vows not to walk away from the abusive relationship.
