LILONGWE (Malawi NewsNow)- Malawi President Professor Peter Mutharika wants to engange Public Affairs Committee (Pac) through a technical team with Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Samuel Tembenu as its chairperson and spokesperson.
Minister of Information, Communication, Technology and Civic Education Patricia Kaliati disclosed of the five-member team on Wednesday, saying the appointed of officials will continue to engage with PAC “ on matters of national interest.”
“The State President moved to appoint this team because he values and prioritizes dialogue on matters of national interest,” said Kaliati.
According to Kaliati, Other members are Chief Economic Advisor and Executive Assistant to the President, Collins Magalasi; Special Advisor and Assistant to the President on NGOs and Civil Society, Mavuto Bamusi; Minister of Health Peter Kumpalume and Hetherwick Ntaba, Chief Advisor to the President on Domestic Policy.
Last month Kaliati lashed out at Pac for being hostile and confrontational towards Mutharika.
It followed Mutharika’s audience with the religious grouping’s representatives on April 21st, 2016 at State House in Lilongwe in which Pac was to present to the President recommendations made at its conference in Blantyre in February this year.
During the audience that was broadcasted live on State television MBC, Mutharika angrily accused the grouping of ambushing him, saying the officials withdrew original recommendations made at the conference just to give him a set of new ones 30 minutes before the meeting.
