LILONGWE (Malawi NewsNow)- A 23-year old Kelvin Zalimba emerged victorious for E-Wallet at the Capital Hotel Marquee on Sunday evening after beating Eunice and Shanice in the top three.
But it was not easy for the 23 year old who faced a tie after voting. The Judges had 50 percent, the public had 30 percent and contestants had 20 percent of the voting power to split the tie.
In his short speech, the excited Kelvin described the journey as educative.
“The E-Wallet journey has been educative for me. I have learnt a lot from the judges and from my fellow contestants as well. To be honest, I didn’t see this coming because the competition had talented singers and it was tough,” explained the 2016 E-Wallet winner.
Before the winner was announced, judges were given a chance to pick their favorites. Marvin Hanke chose Eunice, Rudo Chakwera chose Shanice while Dumisani Mfune chose Kelvin.
At the end of the night, it was Kelvin who had the last laugh and also won the grand price Nissan Tiida.
In his remarks, E-Wallet Executive Director Felix Njawala thanked the corporate world for sponsorship and the public for the support and criticism.
“I am excited that we have come to end of this long journey. Thanks to the public for being with us. Thanks for all the feedback and criticism. It is your support that has built this show and made it a success.
“However, I feel like as a nation we can do better on sponsorship. We have the capacity to take this show to greater heights. Our friends have done it, we can make it too,” he decried.
The finale had performances by Dan Lu and Faith Mussa. It was reported that Patience Namadingo had fallen ill hence did not make it to the show.
