NewsNOWJOHANNESBURG (Malawi NewsNow) –South African police arrested four Malawians after being found in possession of stolen shoes and mag wheels in Johannesburg.

A truck was reported hijacked in Alberton area carrying mag wheels and shoes and police received a tip about another truck parked on the side of the road in another area.

The police found that the parked truck had been reported stolen at Brighton Beach in KwaZulu-Natal.

When officers raided the yard of nearby premises, they found 816 pairs of shoes worth R170,000 and 20 mag wheels worth R40,000 which had been stolen from the truck that was hijacked in Alberton.

This led to the arrest of four Malawians, three men and a woman, who were found at the premises, According to Ekurhuleni Metro police.

Police also confiscated R14,000 cash from the group.

Lieutenant Colonel Wilfred Kgasago said  four suspects will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of possession of stolen goods.
