BLANTYRE (Malawi NewsNow) –Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has awarded licenses to six Super League clubs after recommendations from FAM Club Licensing System Committee (CLS) but no team from Malawi Defence Force (MDF) qualified.
Before awarding the licenses to teams, the country’s football mother body was looking into infrastructure, administrative and personnel, financial muscle, legal framework sporting criteria.
Blantyre based giants Mighty Be Forward Wanderers came out first after scoring 84 percent in the green range having met all the requirement whereas Kamuzu Barracks were last with 14 percent.
The nomads are followed by Mzuni fc then Blue Eagles after scoring 73 and 71 respectively.
Defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets, Silver Strikers and Dwangwa United [ who scored 69, 60 and 56 respectively] are in Yellow Range and were given provisional licenses after failing to meet some requirements especially in the sporting criteria.
However, Blue Eagles FC , which scored 71 percent were issued with provisional though
their score is in green range due to non- fulfillment of Sporting Criteria.
As for Nyasa Big Bullets FC need to submit audited accounts, constitute a secretariat & have a youth development programme, while Silver Strikers FC need to work fulfillment of Sporting Criteria & submission of Accounts.
The remaining teams who are in red range have been given four days to complete the process or risk missing out of action in the upcoming campaign which kicks off this weekend.
