BLANTYRE (Sergio Genti, Malawi NewsNow)- After some guests complained that that their stay at Shire Highlands Hotel was horrible as the facility is infested with cockroaches and hygiene at their accommodation is so poor, Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) has acted and has since sealed the facility in Limbe.
”MBS has with immediate effect suspended operations of Shire Highlands Hotel situated in Limbe due to non compliance with hygienic conditions as stipulated in Malawi Standard Number 21: Food And Food Processing Units – Code Of Hygienic Conditions,” the bureau said in a statement on Monday.
MBS has since asked the general public not to patronize the Hotel until matters of hygiene at the Hotel and the ban are cleared.
One of the people had accommodation at the hotel reported it to be filthy.
“ There are flies all over the food in the restaurant,” she claimed.
In January this year, Shire Highlands Hotel made headlines for wrong reasons after the Blantyre Water Board came across illegal water connections which they were using for the hotel.
It was reportedly fined for the water it used illegally for the stated period.
