ArrestedLILONGWE (Malawi NewsNow) -Beer patrons at Manda’s Bottle store in Lilongwe have been boozing in fear and intimidation from a 33 year-old man who has been brandishing a revolver before they reported to police to arrest him.

The police were notified and the individual was arrested on Saturday, 30th January 2016.

Lilongwe Police Station Spokesperson Inspector Kingsley Dandaula identified the suspect as Chifundo Stande from Vinyenje village in the area of Traditional Authority Malengachanzi in Nkhotakota.

“When the police went to the bottle store at around 1 am they found the suspect arguing with a fellow drinker and when they apprehended him they found him with a revolver, “ said Dandaula.

The police spokesperson said the suspect was currently at Kawale Sub Station Police and is expected to answer charges of being found in possession of offensive weapon contrary to Section 16 sub section 2 of Fire arms Act.

Last year, Lilongwe Model Police recovered a number assorted rifles through tips from members of the general public.
