BLANTYRE (Malawi NewsNow)- Malawi through Football Association of Malawi (FAM) this week hosted a football technical directors meeting for Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) region in the commercial city of Blantyre from Monday January 25 to 27.
Minister of Sports and Culture, Grace Chiumia said the meeting was vital to help technical directors in the region to share skills and knowledge on the development of football from their respective countries.
“So many things are happening in the world regarding football. This is the opportunity to learn from each other on how to go about in order to develop football,” she said.
A representative from FIFA, Jurg Nepfer said there was need for technical directors in the region to be equipped with skills that are in line with current standards of world football.
“Players come from grass root and they need to be taught the international ways of football. This is the role and responsibility of the technical directors,” he said.
He therefore urged them to make use of the meeting in order to develop the sport in the region.
