BLANTYRE (Sergio Genti, Malawi NewsNow)- Bullets FC technical director Billy Tewesa has declared his side as champions again for the TNM Super League after their Sunday’s 3-1 victory over Moyale Barracks at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
The win means Bullets have cemented their position on top with 44 points from 19 games followed by Mafco at 37 points from 21 games while Silver Strikers are third with 35 points from 20 games.
But Tewesa said what is remaining now is to officially be declared winners.
“There nothing that will change. Bullets are champions again. Technically, we have won the league again,” said Tewesa.
Smarting from their 1- 2 defeat last week at the hands of Airborne Rangers, their first loss in the league this season, Bullets were on top of their game and played with purpose.
Bullets grabbed two quick goals by the half-hour mark first through Chiukepo Msowoya before his twin striker Mussa Manyenje doubled the lead.
But in 41st minute, Moyale marksman Deus Nkutu brought hope back into the soldiers within 30 seconds after replacing Dan Katunga when he connected from a seemingly harmless cross from the right to beat ill-positioned Chimwemwe Kumkwawa with his first touch.
Substitute Aimable Niyikiza scored his first ever league goal for Bullets t wrap the day.
Tewesa said teams can start sending messages of congratulations for the champions other than waiting for season to end.
“It’s clear we are champions. Teams better start congratulating Bullets,” said Teweses.
He said they will win next two games and start the party.
