LUSAKA (ZNBC) —Malawian President Peter Mutharika says improved technologies in the Agriculture sector will enable farmers increase production.
Speaking when he officially opened the 89th Agriculture and Commercial Show in Lusaka Professor Mutharika says there is need for new ideas and ambitions in order to create new things not only in the agriculture sector but other sectors as well.
Professor Mutharika says events such as the Agriculture show should be encouraged because they provide exposure and offer opportunities in trade and investment.
He also says it is important that Zambia and Malawi continue to strengthen their mutual understanding.
Professor Mutharika says he will continue to encourage trade between the two countries.
And show society president Anderson Murray says the show enables various exhibitors both foreign and local to share their products and services.
Mr. Murray announced that the show society plans to transform the showground’s into an all year entertainment center.
And President Lungu and President Mutharika toured various stands at the show this afternoon.
President Mutharika says he was impressed with the organisation of the 89th Agricultural and Commercial show.
Professor Mutharika has observed that Malawi has a lot to learn from its neighbor in the agriculture sector, which he said is better organised in Zambia.
