BLANTYRE (Malawi NewsNow ) — The Malawi Revenue Authority has said it will revise its processing and destination fees upward effective 1st September 2015.
According to a document endorsed by the Authority`s Commissioner General Mr Raphael Kamoto the move is justifiable as it has been a long time since they were last revised.
According to MRA the fees were last revised in June of 2011 and they felt they now need revision following a change in economy.
“MRA is informing the business community and the General Public that processing and destination Inspection fees will be revised upwards with effect from 1st September 2015,” says the document endorsed by MRA`s top Boss.
The new fees will be k10,000 for processing from K5000 and while destination fee is currently at K25,000 it will go up to K35,000.
MRA further wishes to advise the business community and the General Public that the revision in fees relates to Customs & Excise transactions only.
