BLANTYRE (Malawi NewsNow ) — Malawi national team the Flames have moved 10 places up on the Coca-Cola Fifa rankings to 98 from 108 in July.
The latest rankings come a time the Flames is scheduled to engage Swaziland’s Sihlangu on September 4 away in Mbabane in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Coach Ernest Mtawali has since said he will prefer one week training camp for the Flames, a departure from the normal trend whereby the Flames usually camp for two weeks or more..
According the rankings, Algeria is ranked number one in Africa followed by African Cup Champions Ivory Coast while at World level Algeria is position 19.
Argentina is currently holding position one displacing World Cup Champions Germany who is in third position. Belgium is currently holding the second position.
According to information sourced at Fifa website, the teams have been rated based on having played more than five matches against officially ranked teams.
