NewsNOWMACHINGA (Evance Chisiano, Mana) — Unidentified armed robbers Saturday stole K634,000 from a pigeon peas buyer at Chisuwi Village, Traditional Authority Nsanama in Machinga.

Police in Machinga have confirmed that the robbers attacked Alice Mukhuna of African Cotton Company on Saturday at around 9 o’clock at night.

In the meantime police are looking for the robbers, according to Machinga Police Officer- In-Charge Assistant Commissioner, Gideon Nahumu.

Pigeon peas trade is common in Machinga as buyers are scattered in the district buying the commodity from farmers at about K280 to K300 per kilogramme.

The police in Machinga are therefore asking companies to avoid giving their buyers a lot of cash at once.
