LILONGWE (Malawi NewsNow ) — Musician Ellen Kadango popularly known as Elly K has said she has organised a music show to take place at Lilongwe`s Catholic College Don Bosco in Area 23 as a ‘thank you’ token on 19 September.
The artist said she has decided to hold this show as An appreciation to the college for the generosity it showed her sometime back in 2009 when she could not afford to pay for her tuition fees the time her family was going through a tough time.
“There were problems at home at that time that made me stop attending classes but when the institution found out and heard everything they decided to put me back in class until those problems were sorted. But even after everything was ok, because of my hard work and sacrifice I was still allowed to learn under the schools payment which even included lunch and everything,” said Elly K.
For this reason the musician has said she now feels compelled to give back to the catholic college through this show.
“I have felt its time I give back so that others would also be assisted from the money this show will raise,” she explained.
She added:” i feel very good to do this for the school that held my hand when I needed it most, as the former miss Don Bosco 2009 I will also make sure that the history of this college remains great for the generations to come and I hope all other religious institutions or organisations will emulate Don Bosco.”
The show will attract a fee of K700 at the door and all proceeds will go to the college and some of the supporting artists will be Don Kalonga, the Six Solid Band and Alex Kamonga who have also passed through Don Bosco.
