BLANTYRE (Malawi NewsNow) –Multi-choice has launched its Zambezi Magic channel on DSTV Channel 160 to be managed by former Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) presenter and producer Kwangu Liwewe.
Multi-choice said the channel will showcase award-winning soapies, lifestyle programmes, edutainment series and exciting movies that tell the African story.
Kwangu Liwewe urged production houses in the SADC region to submit their proposals, which she said will be subject to vigorous analysis and scrutiny by the Head office in Johannesburg, South Africa.
“My role will be to source content from the channel’s six territories that are Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Botswana, Namibia and Swaziland,” she said.
Liwewe said the content must resonate be suitable for Southern Africa.
Liwewe, who has also been involved in the training of Malawian private television Joy TV staff, was rated among the most influential Africans in the media by the New African Magazine.
“I hold a diploma in journalism and Masters Degree in International Journalism from City University in London. I started my journalism career in Zambia soon after completing my Diploma.
“I have worked for the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation [ZNBC], MBC, South Africa Press Association [Sapa], eNCA and I also freelanced in the UK. I have 20 years experience as a journalist,” she explained.
Other programmes on Zambezi Magic are award-winning soapies Generations, Muvhango, Isidingo, Zone 14, Jacob’s Cross, the critically-acclaimed edutainment TV series Intersexions and Yizo Yizo that explore various societal issues and have sparked debates around issues like the HIV and AIDS epidemic, love and relationships.
