BLANTYRE (Malawi NewsNow ) —Football Association of Malawi (FAM) is withholding an international transfer certificate (ITC) for striker Jimmy Zakazaka for his prospective Botswana deal after being embroiled in a contractual dispute with Mighty Be Forward Wanderers.
Zakazaka signed a two-year contract with BDF XI of Botswana and the club, through the Botswana Football Association (BFA), sought his ITC from FAM on the basis that he is a free agent yet he was playing for Be Forward Wanderers.
He wanted to go on a free transfer so that he can get a bigger signing-on fee at BDF XI, according to Wanderers general secretary Mike Butao .
Butao said Wanderers will release the “ on our terms, not his or BDF XI’s.”
He explained that Zakazaka signed a pre-contract with Wanderers and was paid as stipulated in the agreement.
Zakazaka, who is already in Botswana, reportedly demanded K1.8 million ($3 600) and although Wanderers claim that they paid him K1.6 million ($3 200), FAM official Casper Jangale says the player got K1.5 million ($3000) in total.
