LILONGWE (Malawi NewsNow) – Tennis ace Roger Federer took his time to inspire a local tennis team at Lundi village in Lilongwe after he launched a childcare centre in impoverished southern African nation, Malawi, funded by his charity foundation.

Federer took photos with the tennis players, saying that he was determined to help the children of one of the poorest countries in the world.

The tennis players were excited to have meet the 17-time Grand Slam champ.

“He is a top tennis celebrity player and to meet him is some thing special,” said one player.

“I will practise very hard to be like him one day,” added another.

Federer predicted the children centre, would be a “pre-school of excellence and an important milestone” in the lives of children.

“Too many children are waiting for good pre-schools and early chilhood development centres,” told officals and villagers at the opening
