BLANTYRE (Peter Kanjere, SuperSport)-The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has officially invited applications for the position of the senior national football team head coach.

In an advert placed in Malawi newspapers, FAM said interested candidates for the Flames post “must have a high level of football coaching licence such as Uefa A, B licence of Fifa Pro-licence.”

The candidates must also have “a wealth of coaching experience either at club or national team level, be of strong integrity and demonstrate vast knowledge of the game and be equipped with modern football tactics.”

Several coaches including interim Ernest Mtawali, whose mandate ended after leading the Flames to a 1-0 win over Uganda’s Cranes on Monday, have expressed interest in the job which fell vacant after the sacking of Young Chimodzi last month.

FAM wants to hire the new coach by August 1 2015 to prepare the team for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations away game in Swaziland early September. Interested candidates can send their applications to FAM general secretary at Box 51 657, Limbe, Malawi or through generalsecretary@fam.mw.
