LILONGWE (Peter Kanjere, SuperSport) –Malawian internationals Muhamad Sulumba and Micium Mhone have joined Jomo Cosmos for pre-season training after impressing in recent trials.
The players had after the trials returned to their respective clubs Be Forward Wanderers and Blue Eagles while waiting for an agreement on transfer fees.
Ben Chiwaya, Cosmos representative in Lilongwe, told The Nation newspaper of Malawi that both players had rejoined Cosmos for good.
“I can confirm that both players are now in Jo’burg pending further negotiations with their prospective clubs,” Chiwaya said.
“We are optimistic that the negotiations will be fruitful and that is why we decided to send the players so that they could as well start adjusting to the new environment. They have traveled with their clubs’ blessings.”
Eagles secretary Ackis Muwanga confirmed that talks for winger Mhone’s transfer were at an advanced stage.
Blantyre United owner Lawson Nakoma, whose team loaned Sulumba to Wanderers, also confirmed releasing the burly striker.
Wanderers want compensation from United for selling the striker before the end of the season-long loan spell.
